Porn and bagels
Well, it was supposed to be an interview about my four books on watches, my passion for watches and how to pursue your dreams. And then my inner voices decided to tell a different story. Oh well, at least there´s a bit about my favorite watch in the interview.
The lesser loved Daytona
Recently I was approached by a friendly fellow who asked about one of the watches in my collection. It was a watch I had not worn for a while and since he seemed genuinely interested in owning this particular watch, we agreed to make a trade that put a smile on our faces – and a different watch on our wrists. He happened to have a watch that I have lusted for many moons, the Rolex Daytona ref. 16518 of 18k gold on strap.
Bubblies
February 28th is great date. Not because it is the last day of February, but because Bruun Rasmussen Autioneers will offer this stunning Rolex Bubbleback from 1934. The Bubblebacks were once extremely valuable but lost track to the vintage sports models somewhere in the late 1990s. Maybe it was due to the lack of parts available for these old critters. Maybe it was due to the case diameter of approx 30 mm that male collectors suddenly left the Bubblebacks unsold at auctions and vintage dealers.
Royal Oak'ing
Royal Oak'ing
Let me start by saying that these pictures originate from sheer coincedence. I am not an AP ambassador (and WHY NOT??). I just happen to have friends who share the same love for the 39 millimetre Royal Oaks. And that was indeed proven last week, during a lunch and two coffee meetings at my local hang out.
Manly: the Omega Seamaster PloProf
"Manly". This was the remark from a Norwegian automotive journalist, when he commented on this wristshot on my Facebook site. "Cool and clumsy" was another remark. Indeed the Omega Seamaster PloProf 1200 is both manly and clumsy as well as cool and I can only nod towards the gentlemen behind these observations.
DayDating a Quartz in Copenhagen
It´s Fashion Week here in Copenhagen, which means a plethora of catwalks, way too skinny girls and Martini lunches with no end. Eventhough I am not a fashion whore I do however attend when the watch companies invite yours truly for a treat or two. During lunch yesterday, it was not the watches from the company behind the invite that had my fullest attention (eventhough they are very nice indeed).
