Italian perfection comes in the shape of this steel Panerai Luminor 1950 PAM 00127 Special Edition and al dente pasta. Great taste!
The King, 007, The Italian Stallion and more
Everybody knows James Bond wears an Omega in his movie adventures, most of us know Elvis Presley, Elvis Presley ‘loved his Hamilton Ventura watch and wore it on many occasions, even in his movie ‘Blue Hawaii in from 1961 and many of us know about Sylvester Stallone’s love from an early year for Panerai. But who knows that modern day action hero Jason Statham wears a Richard Mille? We do and we’ll tell you about it right here.
Famous triangle
The watch ‘The King’ made famous is the characteristic triangular shaped Hamilton Ventura. The watch originally purchased by Elvis would have had a leather strap and archive material reveals that, at his special wish, the jeweller exchanged this for a sturdy and shiny metal bracelet to satisfy his celebrity customer. The Ventura is still available, and Hamilton recently released a new Ventura Quartz, as a faithful tribute to the original 1957 model, which made watch-making history as the world’s first electrical, battery powered watch. Design detail of the case of the new model mirrors that of its 1950s ancestors.
Panerai Boutique for a week
In the upcoming issue of 00/24 WatchWorld and 00/24 Horloges you can read everything about the new models from Jaeger-LeCoultre, Audemars Piguet, Piaget, Montblanc, Cartier and Panerai for example. You can find it in our 19 page Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie Special. But, if you want to know for sure how the Panerai Luminor 1950 3 Days Chrono Flyback fits on your wrist, or how the (first!) Pocket Watch Tourbillon GMT Ceramica fits in your pocket, there is only one solution: you need to check these Panerai novelties in "real live".

The rise of denim
Denim has been on a steady rise for years now and looks to be unstoppable. Jeans wear has worked its way up from being prison work wear to be used in tailor-made suits you can wear in the boardroom of a well respected Forbes 500 company. Love it or hate it, jeans are her to stay and of course Hublot has picked up on that.
One of the most unusual items on display at SIHH was a huge ceramic pocket watch from Panerai – or to give it its full name, the Pocket Watch Tourbillon GMT Ceramica (PAM00446). A few of us caught a glimpse of this in prototype form at SIHH last year, but the 59mm whopper of a watch is now ready and properly on show.
One knot to miss: PAM Regatta!
I may not be the biggest sailing enthusiast on this planet, but do enjoy the time at sea. And why not sport a watch that fits the surroundings? That watch could be this stunning Panerai with the first inhouse chronograph movement made by the Italian brand Panerai that has water running through its DNA veins.
I was right (Radiomir 1940 47mm in steel)
At last year’s SIHH Panerai presented a new case design. It mixed Radiomir refinement and Luminor sturdiness and it was named Radiomir 1940. This boutique only watch was adorned with historical Plexiglas after asking for added credibility. This best of both worlds watch now has a regular production successor.
Small but still making an impact
Why are my horological colleagues laughing at me, indicating I should start wearing a dress and high heels, just because I like a 42 millimetre Panerai? I see absolutely nothing wrong with this watch. It sits so well on the wrist with the slightly more slender 1940 Radiomir case compared to the more buffed up Luminors and even 1950 case designs. Furthermore the conventional winding crown reminds me of my vintage Rolex watches in my collection. Which is nice.
