Finally back from SIHH...my initial thoughts...

Where were all the innovative watches? Besides from Greubel Forsey and Richard Mille I did not see a lot of great new inventions nor wow-factor-news from the other watch brands. AP showed not surprisingly a slightly updated Royal Oak collection. JLC had a couple of Reverso's and a Deep Sea Chronograph that was not an off spin of history, but instead an off spin of last years relaunch. Girard-Perregaux showed a Laureato with their iconic three-bridge tourbillon and JeanRichard presented a DiverScope that was not PVD-coated.

Panerai dug into history and did what they do well already: introduce 47-mm historic timepieces with pre-tinted luminova. Some stable horses other special editions. Great lookers, but not really all that new and innovative.

A. Lange & Söhne showed a larger Datograph up/down as well as a slight larger and refined Lange 1, but a piece like the incredible Zeitwerk that rocked the boat the former years was not on the programme of the luxurious German watch makers news. That said, I uuuh'd and aaaah'd by the look and feel of both news and still kick myself for not owning at least one ALS in my ticking collection.

Roger Dubuis did however do a little to raise the bar a bit in terms of novel thinking. The revived watch brand introduced a brand new collection, the Pulsion, which deserves some attention as it truly stands out of the current Roger Dubuis collection.

But all in all, Greubel Forsey and Richard Mille were the true showstoppers. Not least the 550.000 Euro GMT from Greubel Forsey and the craaaazy 1.4 million Euro RM056 all-sapphire watch from Mille. Only five are made and they all sold out with two shakes of a lambs tail.
