Watch of the Year 2011
The Watch of the Year Contest has become an international institution. Every year watch manufacturers, importers, jewellers and watch lovers look forward to this competition, organized by 0024 Horloges since 2000. A jury of watch experts and dedicated collectors spends many hours judging the watches nominated by manufacturers and importers.
The 11th Watch of the Year Awards took place on June 16, 2011 at the Dutch Hotels van Oranje, Noordwijk aan Zee. Over 140 importers, representatives and jewellers were present to hear during a one hour ceremony which watch won an award in one of the four price ranges, the ladies award, innovation award, special jury price and the readers award.
On Thursday, June 16 the jury of the Dutch 00/24 Horloges/ WatchWorld Watch of the Year announced the awards in 8 categories for the best watches of 2011.
The jury (10 well-known Dutch watch specialists, watch makers and watch enthusiasts) decided to award winners in 7 categories (men’s watches in 4 price segments, women’s watches, innovation and one special award of the jury); the eighth award was the Reader’s Award.
Well, you'll have to wait till June 16 to find out which watches have been crowned with the coveted 'Watch of the Year'-title. Yesterday evening the jury met at the Oranje Hotels in Dutch seaside town Noordwijk aan Zee.
Representatives of watch manufacturers and importers presented the 19 nominated watches to the members of the jury. After long and often heated discussions the votes were cast and a winner was selected in 6 categories (5 male watches and one ladies watch).
The jury also decided to give one watch a special award and chose the winner of the awards for innovation and design. You'll read all about the competition in the second issue of 00/24 Horloges.
