While any Bovet is a masterpiece in its own right, things get even more special when Pininfarina is involved. The brand from Fleurier created the first collaboration piece in 2010 when the Turin-based design company celebrated their 80th anniversary.
With only ten pieces to be made, the exclusivity of the new version of the Ottantasei Tourbillon is also highlighted by the material it is made of: platinum. Bovet matched this with blue details, a traditional choice for this precious metal. That, and the craftsmanship needed to make it are the only things traditional about this watch. Here is where Pininfarina comes in, who draw up a beautiful yet sober case and highlighted the technical advancement of the movement itself. This is also amplified further by the sapphire inserts on the sides of the case.
The result is breathtaking and a tad more sportive than Bovets usually are. Pininfarina has cleverly maintained the DNA of the brand as well, created through synergy throughout the design. While the Ottantasei Tourbillon has a power reserve of an impressive ten days, it only uses a single mainspring barrel to generate this. Also unique is the flying tourbillon that can be admired from an unobstructed view from both sides, a technical feat showcasing the considerable technical prowess of Bovet.
