Longines Takes Conquest V.H.P. To New Heights With Flash Setting

Longines Conquest V.H.P.

The Longines Conquest V.H.P. is already a watch that delivers quite a performance. It is ultra-precise with a deviation of only 5 seconds a year, has a special function that resets the hands after exposure to magnetic fields and is equipped with a perpetual calendar which automatically shows the correct date until the year 2399. Now this Longines is available in an even more advanced version, named Conquest V.H.P. GMT Flash Setting.

As the name already indicates this member of the Conquest V.H.P. collection is fitted with a GMT complication, which is indicated by an extra hand on the dial. The way you set the watch to another timezone is nothing short of revolutionary. Through a special app on your smartphone, the watch can be set without the need for wifi or bluetooth connection. Instead, it uses the flash of the smart phone’s camera to communicate. By keeping it over the dial, the flash sequence is picked up by the watch through a small opening in the one of the hour marker twelve. This makes changing the time effortless with no need to use the crown and while maintaining the very high precision of the movement. A revolution in watchmaking, and one that is appreciated by the Globetrotters among us for sure!

When we started publishing our first high-end watch magazine in 1999, we had only one intention: increasing the popularity of high-quality mechanical watches. Now, many years later, this has not changed at all. In 2017 we have reinvented ourselves to serve our readers in a different and better way. Starting in 2017, the new 0024 is again better equipped to interact with the changing world of high-end watches. The new 0024 HORLOGES magazine (written in Dutch) will be at least a 200 pager: that’s twice the volume of our magazine in the old days.
