TAG Heuer presents a new chronograph designed for Max Verstappen

The Formula 1 driver for the Aston Martin Red Bull Racing team presented the latest creation carrying his name, the TAG Heuer Formula 1 Calibre 16 Max Verstappen Special Edition 2019, at an exclusive event in Amsterdam.

Amsterdam, the Netherlands – 16 October 2019: TAG Heuer and Max Verstappen, Formula 1 driver for the Aston Martin Red Bull Racing team and the youngest Grand Prix winner in the history of Formula 1, unveiled their latest creation to around 150 invited guests and the local public at the Majestic in the heart of Amsterdam. This time round, the new special edition designed for Verstappen is an automatic chronograph limited to 333 pieces and now available exclusively in the Netherlands for € 3,100.

Lovers and friends of the watch brand, fans of the young racing driver, media representatives, jewellers and public figures, including active racing driver colleagues Tom Coronel, Loek Hartog, Rob Kamphues, Giedo van der Garde and Prince Bernhard of Orange-Nassau, van Vollenhoven, racing driver and owner of the Formula 1 racetrack in Zandvoort, joined a host of other guests in celebrating the debut of the fourth exclusive timepiece in cooperation with Max Verstappen and the Swiss luxury watchmaker.

The new timepiece was personally brought to the event hosted by TV celebrity and social media influencer Shelly Sterk by Max Verstappen in a special Aston Martin DBS Superleggera.

Following the launch of three successful Max Verstappen special editions in 2016, 2017 and 2018, all equipped with a high-quality Swiss quartz movement, TAG Heuer decided to continue its successful collaboration with Aston Martin Red Bull Racing and raise the bar on a technical level. Max Verstappen met with the TAG Heuer design team to exchange visions for the new watch. The new timepiece, which perfectly reflects Verstappen’s outstanding success and his reputation in the world of motorsport, is a technical enhancement with a Swiss heart that automatically keeps time.

Max Verstappen: “I’m really pleased with how this latest edition has turned out, to me it looks great. I’m really happy that TAG Heuer included the automatic movement as it feels like, as we say in Formula One, a good step forward! It is a sporty looking watch, which I like, and I think you can wear it on any occasion, which is important and something I always look for in a watch. I hope the fans like the new design as much as I do.”

The sporty chronograph is both elegant and practical. Featuring counters at 6, 9 and 12 o’clock, the dial boasts a number of signature elements of the young racer. The striking red-and-black colour theme, chosen by Max Verstappen to coincide with the colours typically used in motorsport, appears on the fixed bezel in the form of an engraving of his name MAX VERSTAPPEN and on the dial with the hands and indices.

The polished, fine-brushed stainless steel case is presented on a classic stainless steel bracelet with black ceramic links. Engraved on the back of the 44 mm case is the Aston Martin Red Bull Racing team logo and the starting number of Max Verstappen underpinned by the chequered flag. By limiting this new creation to 333 pieces worldwide, reference is made to Max’s starting number, 33 – a number that is now famous with Formula 1 fans across the world.

When we started publishing our first high-end watch magazine in 1999, we had only one intention: increasing the popularity of high-quality mechanical watches. Now, many years later, this has not changed at all. In 2017 we have reinvented ourselves to serve our readers in a different and better way. Starting in 2017, the new 0024 is again better equipped to interact with the changing world of high-end watches. The new 0024 HORLOGES magazine (written in Dutch) will be at least a 200 pager: that’s twice the volume of our magazine in the old days.
