New collection of smartwatches from Frédérique Constant

The Frédérique Constant Horological Smartwatch made its debut in 2015 after a development period of three years, making it the first Swiss ‘smart watch’. Since then Japanese watch giant Citizen has taken over the watch house that was established and made into a success by Peter and Aletta Stas and some things have changed.

Citizen acquires Frédérique Constant: the rising sun buys a rising star

The Genevan based independent maison with Dutch roots, Frederique Constant, is now a Genevan based brand of the Citizen Watch Co. The sporty brand Alpina and the high-end and very limited creations of Ateliers DeMonaco are also in Japanese hands now. Frederique Constant Holding was founded in 1988 by Peter and Aletta Stas. The company produces traditional timepieces at an affordable price level and became very successful with that strategy.

Citizen shoots an inspiring movie: ‘Better Starts Now’

A great little watch movie with a message and looks awesome. The film ‘Better Starts Now’ was made by Dutch commercial maker Johan Kramer, production company 100% Halal and agency Wieden+Kennedy Tokio for Citizen and shows the philosophy of the Japanese brand that it’s always possible to improve. Now is the time to start improving according to Citizen and it tells that message in short movie that was shot at a watchmaker’s workbench and the black and white images were shot with original camera’s from the 30’s and 80’s.
